About the event

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 7pm, II NY Chapter #7 met on ZOOM to explore the Japanese Abacus called the Soroban.  As our members joined the program, Radio Taiso exercises were streamed offering an opportunity to our members to participate in the drills.  Our culture program explored the soroban method which exercises the mind to visualize calculations instead of memorizing “math facts”.  In this technological age, it is still used today!  Following a lecture and demonstration of the soroban by our own member Jackie Alexander, our members exercised their minds with various practice calculations using the soroban.

Afterwards, we treated our souls to a virtual Mini Flower Show.  Designs were submitted by members of various schools and were edited into an enjoyable presentation with music by Mr. Noritaka Noda.
